Ethics & Environment
Where does marmot oil come from?
The marmot fat, the chamois fat and the badger fat all come from Swiss hunters. We buy these high-quality raw materials directly and exclusively from responsible Swiss hunters. This means we know exactly where our animal fats come from.
In order to prevent overpopulation and diseases, the population of these wild animals is controlled through hunting. The federal government and the respective cantons monitor the hunting.
Do you all hunt marmots yourself?
This is neither necessary nor possible. Swiss hunting is regulated and monitored by the federal government and the respective cantons. There are quotas that are adjusted depending on the animal population in the respective cantons and distributed among the hunters. So the number of marmots that can be hunted each year is fixed and adjusted to the population. The population of these wild animals is controlled by hunting in order to prevent and contain overpopulation and thus diseases.
We have a large network of Swiss hunters and buy the valuable marmot fat, chamois fat and badger fat directly and exclusively from them. This is a lot of work, as each individual hunter is only buying small amounts of marmot oil, chamois fat or badger fat.
Hunting & Ethics, the Moral Question
For us, there is no more species-appropriate animal husbandry than the wild. The wonderful raw materials within the strictly regulated and responsible Swiss hunting system should be used sensibly and provide enjoyment for many years. It is important to us that the valuable fats, hides and antlers are also used in addition to the game meat.
Treating nature and wild animals with respect is very important to us. Our furs, animal specimens and antlers therefore come exclusively from hunting or fallen game. We obtain most of these products from Swiss hunters and only in exceptional cases from foreign hunters. We declare the origin on the label. For our ointments and oils we only use fats that come from Swiss hunters, without exception.
