All our natural products with marmot fat are made in Switzerland. More precisely in Frutigen, in the Bernese Oberland. There is more to them than just valuable raw materials. A lot of passion, our experience and a long period of development and continuous improvement. Our tried-and-tested Murmeli herbal ointments and massage oils are carefully mixed and bottled by hand in-house. We use Swiss raw materials wherever possible. The marmot oil and game fats for our marmot ointments and oils come directly from Swiss hunters without exception. We generate the electricity for the production of the ointments and oils with our own photovoltaic system. If quality demands it, we find exclusive natural raw materials abroad. For example, high-quality olive oil for the marmot herbal ointment: selected and strong herbs give our marmot ointments a warming or cooling effect and the unmistakable scent. In combination with the right herbs, the marmot oil in our marmot herbal ointments unfolds its full power.
Swiss tradition
Marmot oil is a centuries-old Swiss tradition. In Switzerland, marmot fat has many names: Murmelifett, Murmelisalbe, Murmeliöl, Murmelischmutz, Murbischmutz or Munggafett are some of them. Over thousands of years, plants and animals in high alpine regions have had to adapt in order to survive. They withstood extremes such as freezing cold, snow, ice, strong sunlight and the constantly changing weather. This is how they developed extraordinary protective mechanisms. Humans discovered many of these amazing powers and active ingredients for themselves. Alpine folk medicine has used them since the beginning for skin care and to promote vitality and well-being. They looked for simple remedies for their muscles and joints in their immediate surroundings. Herbs, minerals and animal products were available to them. And so marmot oil has been a tried and tested household remedy for centuries.
100% pure nature
In 1981, we dedicated ourselves entirely to marmot oil. Our aim was (and still is) to optimise the use of marmot fat - this natural, valuable and powerful raw material. With a lot of passion, patience and development work, our first marmot ointment was created in 1992. And it is still proving its worth today. Our marmot herbal ointments and oils are carefully handcrafted in Frutigen in the idyllic Bernese Oberland. With solar power from our own photovoltaic system. We only use 100% pure marmot oil from Swiss hunts. This gives us the certainty that the marmots lived in their natural habitat. Together with selected herbs, oils and fats, we create unique and powerful mixtures for our marmot herbal ointments and massage oils, and our marmot ointments are purely natural. We do not use any artificially produced fragrances, preservatives or colourings.
